Calligraphy 101: Getting Started

If you, you know, like many people think calligraphy is this out-of-reach, really elaborate art, this class is, maybe the spot to kick that notion to the curb. So the instructor walked us by ways of the core strokes that shape up the entire craft, and it felt surprisingly doable. Rather, it’s not only for artistic handwriting but the historical context presented certainly gave more value to where each style came from. At the end, I wasn’t able to immediately create complex, lovely lettering but I have, you know, new respect and understanding which will allow progression and future training.

The Art of Pen Maintenance

Okay, this session felt much like, a rite of passage for any serious pen fan. It’s almost not something you generally ponder about; that’s how and when you truly maintain your prized writing device. Very good that they went heavy on this specific knowledge about parts, the dos, don’ts of tidying, also the storage of fine pens. After doing all these items together, I now, have better awareness and confidence on how to keep these investments ticking (plus producing crisp writing) for many years!

Whoa! So I thought ink was mainly available, that is, mainly a thing of simply selecting a shade. No. Montblanc dives a bit beyond simply black, blues and reds – a deep-dive directly into tone origins to formulas affecting paper interactions. Very nice was the ability to check different inks on paper types that, by any means, affected my experience; the session genuinely expanded what anyone, for instance, will feel regarding something relatively simple!

It’s almost just writing with one fountain pen differs by typing on any key pad; one class proved the differences.
