Now, it can get incredibly crowded, especially when the sun starts getting lower. I mean packed. And honestly, you’re competing with, like, a zillion other folks to get that ‘gram-worthy photo. Anyway, it’s a striking sight; this temple is perched right on a rock in the ocean, and the waves crashing around it are very dramatic. The spiritual feel is definitely there, and it’s a good way to start the day to soak up some culture. That said, prepare yourself mentally to deal with the hordes of tourists, and maybe don’t expect a quiet, reflective moment.

Jatiluwih Green Land: Rice Terraces That Wow (But Are They Worth the Drive?)

After Tanah Lot, next on the list, almost always, is Jatiluwih Green Land. Now, these rice terraces? Seriously gorgeous. I mean, you have these expansive views, a seemingly endless cascade of vibrant green rice paddies. It’s very calming, especially after the Tanah Lot crowds. That said – and this is a big ‘that said’ – getting there takes a long time, and sometimes feels like forever. The roads twist and turn, and it can be a bit of a slog, so you want to think about how you handle long car rides on holiday. Once you’re there, though, it really is lovely, and you can wander around, take a ton of photos, and, of course, get that classic drone shot if that’s your kind of thing. It is something that is probably best experienced with your own two eyes.

Ulundanu Temple: Picture-Perfect Reflections (If the Weather Cooperates)

Okay, so Ulundanu Temple, situated on Lake Beratan, is next. This is another of those iconic Bali sights you’ve probably seen a bunch of times online, right? That temple that seems to float on the water. It’s absolutely beautiful, that is so true. Now, the thing about this place is, its all down to the weather to make the trip worthwhile, very much. If it’s a clear day and the lake is calm, the reflections are just stunning, and it looks exactly like all those postcard pictures. Anyway, if it’s cloudy or rainy, the whole vibe changes. So, while it’s usually a worthwhile place to go, keep your fingers crossed for some decent weather to ensure you will get the most out of it, because the journey isn’t exactly quick, still.

The “Private” Tour Thing: Is it Worth the Extra Dough?

So, the tour I did was pitched as a ‘private’ tour, that is right. Honestly, having your own driver is incredibly worth it for a trip like this, definitely, especially since you want to think about the distances involved. They will pick you up straight from your hotel, and the best ones are pretty clued up on the local scene and can drop in some useful advice or interesting stuff. Anyway, going private also lets you be a bit more flexible with the timing. Wanna hang out longer at Jatiluwih? No problem. Decide you’re not feeling Ulundanu because the clouds have rolled in? Okay, maybe you just miss it altogether and catch the ride back home instead. Doing a group tour locks you in more, usually, but private does give you that freedom. This flexibility is valuable if you tend to want to adjust things on the fly when on holiday.

Overall Verdict: Hit or Miss?

Okay, so here’s the deal: This tour has some amazing sights and does highlight the diverse scenery that Bali is known for. You get some beautiful temples, stunning landscapes, and a taste of the local culture. That said, its not for folks who hate crowds or spending extended periods in a vehicle, still. If you do decide to go for it, try and go private, since that will allow for adjusting the schedule to your own needs. You are likely going to feel worn out at the end of the day, though with many great holiday photos to add to your memories, that’s almost guaranteed!
