Windsor Castle: More Than Just a Royal Home?

Next stop is quite possibly Windsor Castle, right, one of the actual Queen’s residences (or now, King Charles’s residence). This castle, that, it’s seriously grand. I mean, we’re talking rooms dripping in history, artwork that is worth more money than most people will see in their whole life, plus the changing of the guard, which almost can’t be missed. It gets pretty crowded, but it is almost a sight to behold. Be certain that you allow enough time to actually explore. The grounds are huge.

Bath: Is it a Spa Town, Actually Worth a Stop?

Bath is really different from the other stops, rather. It’s almost known for its Roman baths (hence the name) and its gorgeous Georgian architecture. The Roman Baths almost are remarkably well-preserved, plus you actually get an audio guide to lead you through everything, so that’s super informative.

But Bath’s really got even more to offer than just the baths, I think. It’s very fun to wander around, taking in the crescents and squares, window shopping at the boutique shops, and almost grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants. It really feels special, as if you’ve stepped back in time or something. A Jane Austen novel come to life, perhaps?

Lacock: The Quintessential English Village With a Pub Lunch

Lacock, a little village, too it’s often included in these tours. It’s incredibly picturesque, it actually looks like it’s been plucked right from a movie set (Harry Potter was filmed there, in fact). The stone cottages, that, the Abbey, the quaint atmosphere. And then there’s almost the pub lunch.

Look, I think we need to talk about pub lunches for a second. Because they really are kind of a British institution. It’s actually a chance to sort of relax, dig into some traditional food (think fish and chips, or maybe a ploughman’s), plus that you sip on a pint of local ale. Also? Crowds, you will almost have to battle your way through crowds. Especially during peak season.

Who is This Trip *Really* For, Though?

Okay, so in some respects, this trip almost is perfect for someone who:

• Is pretty short on time and almost wants to see as much as possible.
• Has a real “checklist” mentality. I want to see the big hitters.
• Actually doesn’t mind the idea of a slightly rushed pace.
• That’s not really all that fussed about super in-depth exploration, of course.

But it could be just a little less suitable for somebody who:

• Likes to take their sweet time and to explore at their own rhythm, yet.
• Actually hates crowds like crazy, basically.
• Really gets stressed out when they’re on a tight schedule.
• Is quite interested in seeing the slightly lesser-known places instead of the “top attractions”.
