National WWII Museum PT-305 Ride Review 2025: Is It Worth It?

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, like your average cultural center, attempts to bring history alive in all sorts of different ways. One way that really gets people excited, and it’s something people talk about, is the PT-305 experience. Is that little adventure on a restored patrol torpedo boat very fun, or very informative? What’s the PT-305, Basically?

Basically, that PT-305, like it is for many vessels of war, it is a genuine, very surviving PT boat used during World War II. But here’s what makes that different. From many, many reports, what tends to happen is that the experience does go down almost as advertised. And as you may expect, the highlight appears to be the boat ride. Going out onto the water aboard that restored PT boat seems very thrilling. Getting to feel that boat’s raw and extreme power really does connect you physically to what it must’ve been like, arguably, to be a crew member in that war.

The historical reenactors who’ve joined you aboard seem genuinely dedicated, actually. And too, they share stories, often little anecdotes, and very offer bits of historical trivia that just very bring that history to life, so I have been told. What really stood out for the most reviewers, in some respects, is that attention that was paid to the detail in the restoration. Keep in mind weather can stop folks. Always verify such things. Do think, when they stage some mock battle or battle scene, that the attempt lands well. You often know what thrills you better than a few other person, really.
