What the Red Tour Includes, Usually
Alright, the Red Tour, is that typically a full-day excursion, it is usually hitting quite a few can’t miss places that are near. First thing’s first, you could very easily hit the Göreme Open Air Museum, I mean this place is crawling with rock-cut churches, they’re all decked out with super old Byzantine frescoes, the type you have just got to sneak a peak at. It’s pretty much UNESCO-approved if that makes it sound any cooler. But then the tour likes to swing by Paşabağ (Monk’s Valley), that place is scattered with fairy chimneys that have these cool cap-like tops, or well, at least they look like that to me. Then you go on over to Avanos, which is known, at least in the area, for its pottery; you might get a little demo, or you know, even try and chuck some clay yourself if you are feeling brave, or are you courageous? There is a quick lunch stop at a local spot also usually bundled in. Rose Valley? I mean, that hike gets thrown in, is that for views that you cannot actually beat, the pink-ish rocks look real gorgeous at sunset, almost surreal really. Finally, a trip over to Uçhisar Castle. High as heck, that spot, very scenic.

Breaking Down Each Stop
Now, is that maybe we take a closer look at what really makes each spot a big win, do you wanna? I’ll run you through them. Göreme Open Air Museum has gotta be first; really, I mean, the location, in some respects it was a monastic hub, and then a really important one, from 900 AD to 1200 AD, as a matter of fact. The churches are all in rock, so cool to see, Barbara Church, Snake Church, Dark Church, all of em have had old paintings kept safe and sound that really bring you back, so crazy. Dark Church almost costs extra cash to step inside. So, just so you are aware.
Paşabağ is where those mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys stand. So, those nature-formed statues have some really fun walking trails too, so bring decent shoes if you go that route, in a way. Avanos comes next, is that maybe you could see what pottery’s like in Turkey, do you wanna? Watch pros throw the clay around just perfect. Could try your own thing? I mean sure thing they might let you, it can go hilariously or, could be amazing.
That said, for Rose Valley, yeah well, sunsets? Do them there. Rocks look like they have some pink to them in the light, trails zig and zag a ton too it’s almost. A good amount of shoe wearing for that as well! And last up on the roster is Uçhisar Castle, a high spot, you are able to look at stuff from super high up when you’re there. Some people just hang and grab snaps.
What to Expect: The Nitty-Gritty of the Tour Experience
So, let’s talk real numbers, will we? Typically, these tours are pretty large, like your, usually clocking in near the neighborhood of twenty peeps, or even fifty if things are jammed. Really get in there buddy! That way, is that prices that can range wildly too; in some respects, that said, budget around, maybe nearly 40-80 bucks in American cash, that does often not include your own lunch. Anyway, lunch spots, that way they usually mark up on food; it’s kinda expected almost. Guides are always going to lay down the what’s what on site information; it’s kind of hit and miss how deep they will actually get with the stories; so they’re often available in tons of spoken languages. That way tours might begin near ten and end anywhere from four or five that afternoon.
One warning I do have? Time flies near warp speeds on site somewhere. Is that your clocking five stops somewhere near and in just that one day, things can turn from just lookin’ at a place real close to then herding yourself real quick to meet up, could be quick really. I mean, time crunched! Just something for your, like your head’s up.
The Pros and Cons of the Red Tour
Alright, so pros and cons. You do get big sites covered in just the day for one, in a way; just no thinkin’; they’ll haul you around where they have set. The downside? You are at the mercy of whatever timeline the company puts into action. Is that your maybe one of those stops really jives, I mean, really meshes with your own vibe? No such luck, you have to roll with the pack regardless really, is that something to at least know. Cost efficient? Yeah sure, it gets real economic against cabs everywhere or rent-a-cars. That way crowds happen; the trade is that there will be a buttload of humans out at places where you want pics to, oh too bad, bummer huh? Guides? Their info on this tour is going to rely somewhere near the ability to communicate; the guide will have, naturally; they are usually amazing guides around I think really. All this has its moments but you won’t necessarily feel on your own so you can roam.
