Majestic Mt. Fuji: Getting Closer to the Icon

Mount Fuji views

Let’s face it, that main draw? Very, Mt. Fuji. Almost every tour itinerary is very much built around getting you the views, depending so on the time of year and that weather on the mountain itself, of course. It might involve a stop at the Fuji Five Lakes area. That is a region known for some awesome vantage points or a climb up to a spot called the Mt. Fuji 5th Station. Just a note, Mother Nature has that final say. Some days, clouds will mean that you simply won’t see the top of the mountain at all. Either way, just being somewhere on its slopes feels, that is pretty special.

Hakone’s Charm: Scenery and Volcanic Wonders

Hakone Japan

Hakone’s that next stop, it seems, and things go just a little beyond a mountain view. Hakone tends to offer lots in terms of natural beauty, also thanks to the volcanic activity bubbling below. A boat trip across Lake Ashi, well, you know, it is popular, offering what seem like amazing views, especially of Mt. Fuji if that day’s cooperating. They often pack in a visit to Owakudani, that area, created during a volcanic eruption some time back. The big draw there could be getting to try black eggs, or kuro-tamago, which get cooked in these hot, sulfuric springs. Supposedly, and also that bit seems kind of fun, eating one tacks some years onto your life. Anyway, the Hakone Ropeway sometimes does show scenic views.

Usually the trip runs between Odawara and Tokyo and only eats up roughly around half an hour or so. I feel a thing people seem to remember isn’t actually that speed but also how super-smooth and therefore comfortable even these fast rides could be. So, if this sounds great and the scenic stuff doesn’t grab you then be happy that you could say you have gone on Japan’s bullet train!

Where to Stay: Hotels and Ryokans

Hotels in Hakone

Many standard trips use okay-level hotels; yet a bump up might give you fancy Ryokans – that are just these conventional-type Japanese Inns that seem big on hot springs as well as tatami mats.
