More or less just follow the signs. Right? Just don’t touch the turtles or their seagrass lunch, right? Good.

Maho Bay: Calm Waters and Turtle Encounters

You could also very much swing over to Maho Bay. Actually, Maho Bay has very calm waters and it’s very shallow, which makes it a super good spot for beginner snorkelers. Basically, it also happens to be a favorite hangout for sea turtles, that’s because there’s a lot of seagrass. It’s also possible to chill and swim along, but definitely just observe. Too important!

Hawksnest Bay: A Quieter Option

It might be that Hawksnest Bay is much less crowded. Any way Hawksnest is great if you would rather want something a little more serene and relaxed. Often Hawksnest offers some seriously fantastic opportunities to spot turtles. Almost too much!

The Wreck of the General Rogers

Very, that the wreck of the General Rogers, lying in Leinster Bay, is more or less one of the best shipwreck snorkeling sites around St. John. That is that this is an old landing craft from World War II. Actually it’s sunk. Seriously, just chilling out on the seabed. And now that it’s covered in coral and teeming with fish, more or less the marine life has very much moved in!

In a way it’s shallow enough to be very easily accessible for snorkelers. I mean it is! Very close!

Waterlemon Cay: Not *Exactly* a Shipwreck, But Still Cool

Even though it isn’t actually a shipwreck, in some respects Waterlemon Cay needs a mention. Apparently, that old Annaberg Sugar Plantation dock just off the coast is basically crumbling and falling. So, pretty picturesque stuff!. That said, you could be swimming over this old pier. As a matter of fact it offers a similar feel to a shipwreck, and a ton of sea life thrives among the ruins. Best Times to Visit

Okay, arguably, that the best time to visit St. John is during the dry season, which basically runs from December to May. Basically, during these months, in some respects the weather is sunny. Seriously! And very pleasant too, you see. Plus, there’s a less humidity.

Booking in Advance

You know, particularly for boat charters and excursions to Pizza Pi, it might be worth it to plan out your plans and book way in advance! So true! Obviously, you do it and you’ll avoid disappointment. It is a popular spot. You get me?

What to Bring
